Lent Challenge

Many of you will be thinking about what to give up during Lent which starts this week. We would like to suggest that you DO something instead of NOT doing something. Somethings which will improve your spiritual health and something which will enable you to share God’s love for you, with others. To that end we have drawn up a list of 40 things to do during the 40 days of Lent.  Why not give it a go?

Lenten Challenge start on Sunday 10th March

1 Spend a few moments praying for someone in your life.

2 Write a letter or email to someone to encourage them.

3 Spend 5 minutes in silence “Be still and know that I am God”

4 Go to the *Oasis Lent Soup and Sandwich lunch or read Matthew 5 1-16

5 Make time to talk to someone who lives alone.

6 Read Psalm 23 and meditate on it.

7 Buy something for the Foodbank.

8 Open the door for someone and smile.

9 Pray about something you heard on the news.

10 Spend 6 minutes in silence “Be still and know that I am God”

11 Go to the *Oasis Lent Soup and Sandwich lunch or read Matthew 5 1-16

12 Take a bunch of daffodils (£1) to someone.

13 Read Psalm 40 and meditate on it.

14 Try and talk to someone in your road/flats you have never spoken to before.

15 Invite someone round for coffee

16 Buy a “Real Easter Egg” for a child who doesn’t go to church.

17 Spend 7 minutes in silence “Be still and know that I am God”

18 Go to the *Oasis Lent Soup and Sandwich lunch or read Matthew 5 1-16

19 Make or buy a meal or a cake for someone who is not well

20 Read Psalm 77 and meditate on it.

21 Make someone smile.

22 Spend time praying for the Easter services

23 Take a bunch of daffodils (£1) to someone.

24 Phone someone you haven’t spoken to for a while

25 Go to the *Oasis Lent Soup and Sandwich lunch or read Matthew 5 1-16

26 Spend 8 minutes in silence “Be still and know that I am God”

27 Read Psalm 100 and meditate on it.

28 Offer to buy a coffee for someone.

29 Buy something for the Foodbank.

30 Phone or text someone to let them know you love them

31 Spend 9 minutes in silence “Be still and know that I am God”

32 Go to the *Oasis Lent Soup and Sandwich lunch or read Matthew 5 1-16

33 Buy something from a local shop instead of a supermarket

34 Give a donation to your favourite charity

35 Visit someone who is ill or who lives alone.

36 Send an Easter card with a message to a person you don’t often see.

37 Offer to buy a coffee for someone. 

38 Spend 10 minutes in silence “Be still and know that I am God”

39 Go to the *Oasis Lent Soup and Sandwich lunch or read Matthew 5 1-16

40 Read Mark 14 v 12-26 and/or go to the supper at Greasby on Maundy Thursday evening.

 

*Oasis Lent Lunch is at Greasby Church every Wednesday at 12 noon for the 6 weeks of Lent
